The Obakki Foundation Project

We filmed a very special episode of Dussault Inc which ventured away from the conflict we usually encounter with Jason and Mashiah and featured instead, a voyage to Cameroon with the Obakki Foundation.  It’s the perfect foundation for Mashiah to have become involved with as it is driven by creativity and strives to empower women and children.  Volunteers from the organization use art, fashion, thoughts and ideas to engage the people into actively participating in the improvement of their own lives.

Mashiah and Obakki Foundation Volunteers in Cameroon

After spending time in different villages nurturing art projects, or gathering thoughts, the Obakki Foundation turns  completed work into limited edition pieces for sale.  All proceeds go directly back to the community for the betterment of all.  They have most recently dug many clean water wells in Sudan.

The founder of the Obakki Foundation, Treana Peake, is a good friend of Mashiah’s. When Mashiah went to find out how she could help Treana by becoming more involved, Treana convinced her to accompany them to Cameroon.  On this particular voyage they painted children’s hands and also gave women disposable cameras to take photos that would later be collected.  It was a very emotional experience for Mashiah and we believe the episode was inspirational in a way to motivate others into action.

It was an amazing experience for everyone.

Open Sundaes

They say necessity is the mother of all invention.  If you have a desire for something that doesn’t exist, make it yourself!  Mashiah Vaughn followed this philosophy after traveling and experiencing long days on set.  The hotel beauty products just didn’t do it for her so she created her own line of delicious pampering delicacies. Mashiah was interviewed by MTV to discuss her Open Sundaes line and all its benefits.  It’s a tease to the senses!

Having her own company has set Mashiah up as a household rival to Jason Dussault, who has his own streetwear line.

Parenting Advice

Quality Time

Mashiah Vaughn was at HELLO Canada Magazine’s TIFF party.  Although glamorous from head-to-toe, she still had her children on her mind as she walked the red carpet.  Along with other celebrities, Mashiah gave personal parenting tips while being interviewed by HaleyO of Today’s Parent.

Here’s what she had to say: “If your child picks up swearing in any way, shape or form at preschool — this actually just happened to my 4-year-old — don’t stop them from saying it. You just immediately replace the word with “bubble gum” or “Scoobie Doo.” And, for instance, if you drop something in the grocery store and you say s-h-i-t, you immediately replace it with something else, and they repeat the other word. Never ever tell them “no, no, no” because the minute you say that, they’re going to want to be defiant.” ~ Mashiah Vaughn

A Platform for Charity

Mashiah Vaughn takes the spotlight in this What’s Cooking clip as she talks about the Dussault Inc. television series, her lasagna and balancing business with pleasure.

Mashiah was initially hesitant to do the reality based docusoap, but in the end decided it would be a great platform for her charity work.  Some of her humanitarian involvements include: Sage Women’s ShelterBoost for Kids,  Arts Umbrella and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.  Mashiah most recently participated in Exile Island Vancouver 2011.  She was banished and her only ticket off the island and back to her family was to raise enough money for the Children’s Wish Foundation to grant one little girl her wish.  She was among 10 influential business and community leaders, each paired with a wish child, to participate in friendly competition.
